🔶 Introduction :- Looking at the age when a man led a life like a savage, we notice how far we have come. Similarly, the evolution of mankind is truly commendable. One of the major driving forces behind this is science. It makes you think about the wonder of science and how it has proven to be such a boon in our lives. Most importantly, science has helped develop a great civilization. All the advancements that man has been able to make are with the help of science only.
We live in this present age of science and science has created wonders. Science has made us very powerful. Now we can fly like birds in the sky. Now we can swim like fish in the water. Now we can land on the hard surface of the moon. Now we can break the atoms and produce energy. Science has made us the masters of the three worlds of land, water and air.
🔹 Today the findings of science are helping us in every walk of life. Some of them are :-
🔶 (i) In our House-hold Jobs : Science has made our life easy and comfortable. It has given us fans, coolers, heaters, cookers, refrigerators and various kitchen appliances. Now we can do our household jobs quite easily and comfortably.
🔶 (ii) Electricity : Electricity is the most wonderful gift of science. It is our most obedient servant. It lights our houses, roads, streets, hospitals and offices. It also runs our various machines, trains, trams, mills and factories. Now we can not imagine a life without electricity.
🔶 (iii) Means of Transportation : Science has given us wonderful means of transportation. It has given us cars, bikes, trucks, trains, planes and ships. Now we can go to any corner of the world quite easily and comfortably.
🔶 (iv) Means of Communications : Science has given us wonderful means of communications. It has given us telegraph, wireless, radio, land phones and mobile phones. Now we can talk to any person living in any corner quite easily.
🔶 (v) Means of Entertainment : Science has given us interesting means of entertainment. It has given us television, video, camera, video games, cinema, books and newspapers. Now we can pass our free time quite happily.
🔶 (vi) Means of Health Care : Science has given us wonderful drugs and vaccines. It has given us X-Ray, brain scanner, endography etc. to investigate various parts of body. Now we can prevent and treat various diseases. Now we can save millions of lives. Now we can have a better health.
🔶 (vii) Development in the fields of Agriculture and Industries : Science has helped to bring revolution in the fields of agriculțure and industries. Now we can grow more food and feed more people.
🔹 However, it won’t be wrong to say that science is a two-edged sword. It comes with its own set of advantages and disadvantages.
🔶 Advantages of Science :- To say that science has a lot of benefits would be an understatement. The benefits of science do not just limit to one sphere, but it has proven useful in various spheres of the world. When we talk about innovations in science and engineering, electricity is the first thing that comes to mind. It has helped power the world through its development.
That is to say, all the credit goes to science, as it weren’t for science, life in the 21st century would be impossible. After all, it is quite hard to imagine a world without computers, medicines, televisions, AC’s, automobiles and more. In addition, science has contributed largely to the medical field as well.
It has helped cure deadly diseases and also perform surgeries which were hard to perform before. Therefore, science has changed the world in unimaginable ways.
🔶 Disadvantages of Science :- As the saying goes ‘there is no rainbow without rain’, similarly science has drawbacks of its own. One must always remember that anything in excess is poison, and science is no different. If it falls into evil hands, it can cause destruction on massive instance, science is used to create nuclear weapons.
🔶 Curses of Sciences : Science has fed our bodies but starved our souls. Various industries are rapidly increasing air, water, sound and soil pollution. And pollution is slowly poisoning our life.
Science has given dangerous war-weapons like guns, rockets, missiles, tanks and atom bombs. Any misuse of these weapons can destroy Our beautiful world.
🔶 Conclusion :- We must use science for the welfare of mankind only. All the inventions of science must be used to make our earth more beautiful, more peaceful and more lovable.
Science is a good servant but a bad master
